An oh-so-clever make using a cushion and some ingenuity!
We were stunned by this amazing soft cushion in the shape of an ammonite shell, crafted by Kirstin and shared with us. She was inspired by a recent fossil hunting trip to Lyme Regis, on the English south coast, where she saw lots of ammonite shell cushions, so decided to make one herself!

This is quite a complex make that requires some ingenuity, patience and skill.
Materials
Grey blanket - Kirstin found one for sale that had undulating lines down it, and she found she could make 2 cushions with it, but try to get one up to 2m long.
Stuffing.
Sewing thread and needle.
Step 1
Cut the blanket into a long tube, wider at one end than the other. (Make sure to leave enough to make the plug for the wide end, in Step 3). Sew the seams together, except for the wide end. It should look a bit like a furry grey windsock!

Step 2
Stuff it full!

Step 3
Cut a circle from the remaining unused blanket, and sew it onto the open wide end (using a mattress stitch).

Step 4
Roll the tube up, starting at the narrow end, sewing it together (with mattress stitch) as you go. For extra strength flip it over and sew the other side too!

Your soft ammonite shell cushion should be finished! Show it off to your family and friends! Oh, and your pets...

Congrats!
This would make a great cushion for your little one's bed. You could also hide it in your house and go fossil hunting for it!
